HELIOS MOBILITY™

Cleaner mobility through integrated solar and electrical architecture.

Helios is an early-stage Columbus, Ohio cleantech company developing intellectual property for next-generation vehicle energy systems.

We work across four technology focus areas:

1.) Vehicle-Integrated Photovoltaics
Surface-integrated solar generation engineered for the geometric, thermal, and structural realities of modern vehicles.
2.) 48-Volt Electrical Architecture
Power management and distribution systems aligned with the emerging 48 V standard in automotive electrification.
3.) Thermal and Aerodynamic Systems
Integrated approaches to vehicle thermal management that align with aerodynamic and energy-efficiency objectives.
4.) Smart Power Components
Modular, addressable electrical components designed for service, repairability, and scaled manufacturing.

Pioneers in renewable energy technology

What we do

Helios develops integrated technology for vehicle-mounted solar power generation, advanced electrical architecture, and energy-efficient thermal systems. Our work sits at the intersection of photovoltaics, automotive engineering, and power electronics — a domain where small efficiency gains compound into meaningful range, cost, and emissions improvements at fleet scale. We are an intellectual property and engineering company. Our commercial strategy is to license our technology to automotive Tier-1 suppliers and OEMs rather than to manufacture vehicles ourselves.

Why now

The convergence of three industry shifts makes integrated vehicle-energy technology commercially relevant for the first time:-High-efficiency tandem solar cells (now exceeding 30% laboratory efficiency) are becoming manufacturable at automotive scale-48-volt vehicle electrical architectures are being adopted by major automakers for next-generation vehicles-Aerodynamic and thermal management constraints are increasingly aligned with energy-efficiency goals across electric and hybrid platforms[Helios was founded in 2026 to develop and license technology that integrates across these shifts.]

What we're not

We are not a vehicle manufacturer. We do not build cars, trucks, or aftermarket retrofit kits at scale. Our role in the automotive industry is to develop intellectual property and engineering reference designs that automotive suppliers and OEMs license and integrate into their own products. This focus reflects a deliberate strategy: the most valuable problems in automotive cleantech are integration problems that cross traditional engineering boundaries. Helios exists to solve those problems and license the solutions.

CURRENT FOCUS — JULY 2026Our first provisional patent application — the AeroThermal Co-Actuation System — is targeted for filing on July 1, 2026.The AeroThermal system integrates active aerodynamics, waste-heat thermal recovery, and aerodynamic regen-assist under a single unified control framework. Initial modeling quantifies a net system benefit of 538 watts at 30 m/s highway cruise — energy that today is lost to drag, heat dissipation, and friction across three independent subsystems.CFD validation (28-case SimScale matrix) and benchtop physical-rig testing are underway, with research partner conversations active at OSU, Case Western, and the Ohio Patent Pro Bono Program.
